Metro Halifax continues to be a hit with readers. Weekly readership of the free daily newspaper in the Extended Market Area has increased by five per cent from last year to 182,900 readers, according to results released yesterday by the Newspaper Audience Databank (NADbank).

Daily readership of Metro Halifax has also remained steady at 64,600 readers in the EMA and the paper continues to have the highest penetration of any free daily in Canada, reaching more than one-third (37 per cent) of all Haligonians over the course of five days.

Nationally, Metro Canada stands as the most read national daily newspaper in Canada — reaching 1.3 million readers daily and more than 2.7 million weekly. That’s a growth of 12 per cent for both readership groups from last year’s figures.
