Metro Minute at Arepa Café

Burrito fatigue? No problema. Eduardo Lee and Marc Lukacz have you covered. Last November, the pair opened Arepa Café, an eatery dedicated to the national staple of the Caracas-born Lee’s diet. Arepas consist of a thick, sweet cornmeal patty char-grilled, and filled with everything from seafood to plantains (not together — although that might be interesting). Specialty of the house is the Reina Pepiada (Curvy Queen) inspired by Venezuela’s first beauty pageant winner. Chock full of moist chicken, avocado, and cilantro, first-timers are advised to nibble around the sides — it’s more than a mouthful. The café is located at 490 Queen St. W.
