Carleton students and faculty are hosting a fundraising event Friday to restore an historic Frederick Beck fortepiano, one of the oldest pianos of its kind.

Music professors James Wright and Alexis Luko, and music student Andrew Burn, are organizing the benefit concert For Heaven’s Sake! Let’s Fix this Fortepiano! in a bid to raise $10,000 to restore the 240-year-old piano to its former glory.

Ottawa-area musicians and faculty and students of the School for Studies in Art and Culture will perform 18th century English music starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of St. Bartholomew. Carleton’s instrument is considered one of the oldest in existence.
