The Vancouver Public Library is holding a forum on the history and global effect of the United Nations’ Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples at noon today.

Shelley Wright, aboriginal studies instructor at Langara College, heads the free forum at the main branch as part of Langara’s weekly lecture series titled Globalization, eh?

The forum will feature some of the poorest and least recognized groups — the Inuit of the Arctic, the Yanomamo of the Amazon Basin, the Maasai of East Africa — and their contributions to humanity.

The declaration was adopted by the UN in 2007.
