Metro Minute at lantern festival

How will you spend the longest night of the year? The Winter Solstice Lantern Festival is a unique event that celebrates nature’s annual rhythms.

It takes place tonight off Commercial Drive, Yaletown, Granville Island, Southeast Flase Creek and Chinatown. All the festivals start with lantern parades through the streets at 6 p.m. and continue with live music, dancing, drumming and more. A labyrinth of light with more than 700 pure beeswax candles will fascinate all viewers and fill them with peace of mind. If you don’t have your lanterns, don’t worry. There are still workshops to make your own. Visit www.secretlantern.org for more.
