Four actors push their skills to the limit, doing acting gymnastics to play 150 characters in one play, The 39 Steps.
The show opens tonight at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage, 2750 Granville St. It’s a fast-paced send-up of Alfred Hitchcock’s film of the same name. Hitchcock, the master of suspenseful cinema, adapted the murder mystery from a novel by John Buchan.
“It’s mad, it’s wonderful, and the audience goes on this incredible journey,” says Bill Millerd, the show’s artistic managing director, on the Artsclub Theatre Company’s website, www.artsclub.com.
The show starts at 8 p.m. with tickets starting at $29.
