Metro Minute at the Jazz Fest

It’s going to be 23 C today — perfect weather for hanging out under a big white tent and listing to jazz.

One of today’s free concerts at the Halifax Jazz Festival is the Daniel Matto Quintet. Matto is originally from South Australia, but now lives in Halifax. The quintet’s new album is called I’m Old Fashioned.

Also on the free stage this afternoon is the flamenco group Con Brio, Beyond Brasil and Nova Scotian Erin Costelo.

Tonight it’s all about world music with guitarist and singer Alpha Yaya Diallo from Ginea in West Africa. Opening for him is Chris Church, a Halifax-born violinist, singer and composer.
