B.B. King rocks the Lower Mainland for two nights beginning Friday when he plays the Red Robinson Show Theatre in Port Coquitlam. King, 76, has defined blues for more than half a century and has released more than 50 albums. The King of Blues still plays his music with as much passion as ever. Borrowing from the likes of Blind Lemon Jefferson and T-Bone Walker, King has developed one of the world’s most identifiable guitar styles, one that includes vocal-like string bends and left-hand vibrato. His style has been a model and an influence on some of the world’s greatest guitar players, including George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. Tickets for the show run from $89.50 to $96.
