Elite lifeguards will show off their skills at Black Rock Beach in Point Pleasant Park this morning. They’re preparing for the World Lifesaving Championships in Alexandria, Egypt, next month. Two Nova Scotia lifeguards made the National Lifesaving Team. More than 4,000 lifeguards will compete in Egypt from Oct. 2-17 in lifesaving skills and athletic ability. The competition will test every facet of lifeguarding expertise.

Gordon Richardson, executive director of the Nova Scotia Lifesaving Society, said this province is proving to be a leader in this sport. Besides the two competitors, Nova Scotia is also sending three officials to the games.
