The second Edmonton Cup will be contested on July 21 at Commonwealth Stadium. This year a local team will be vying for the trophy.
FC Edmonton is currently in the middle of a successful inaugural exhibition season. The pro team already has victories against the Montreal Impact and Ottawa Fury, and lost 4-3 in an impressive performance against Colo-Colo.
This time they’ll be facing FA Cup finalists Portsmouth FC.
Portsmouth FC was docked nine points this season for financial reasons and was relegated to the Football League Championship. Still, Portsmouth will be the stiffest test yet for the young squad from Edmonton.
