It’s been more than 20 years since Wayne Gretzky last suited up for the Edmonton Oilers, but fans are reminded of his greatest every day at Rexall Place thanks to a bronze statue erected in 1989 after he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings.

Wayne Gretzky, nicknamed The Great One, is widely considered the greatest hockey player of all-time.

At the time of his retirement at the end of the 1998-99 NHL season, he was the NHL’s all-time scoring leader in goals, assists and points in both the regular season and Stanley Cup playoffs.

The question is, will the statue move when the Oilers do?
