With autumn in full swing and temperatures cooling down, Metro Edmonton continues to heat up and gain momentum.

Metro Edmonton now reaches 68,800 daily and 170,900 weekly readers throughout the greater Edmonton area, according to 2009-10 NADbank (Newspaper Audience Databank) findings.

In comparison to NADbank 2008-09 results, this represents an increase of 17,500 readers, or 34 per cent daily and 33,500, or 24 per cent weekly readers. Metro Edmonton enjoyed the second-highest growth increase of any daily newspaper in Canada, making it second only to Metro Calgary.

“The growth we have seen in Alberta over the past three years has been nothing short of extraordinary, but the latest reporting period has given us a reason to celebrate.

With nearly 70,000 in Edmonton, it’s clear that Albertans are making Metro part of their routines,” said Steve Shrout, publisher for Metro Alberta. “I want to express my appreciation to our staff and to our readers for making us the only daily newspaper to show an increase in readership in Edmonton over the past year.”

Metro is the largest international newspaper in the world. Metro is published in over 100 major cities in 20 countries across Europe, North and South America and Asia.
