1. The Emmys
As expected, Tina Fey’s 30 Rock dominates the comedy nominations with 22 nods this year while AMC’s Mad Men leads the drama pack with 16 nods. Neil Patrick Harris will play host. Also on the cards is an appearance from Justin Timberlake. The awards gala airs Sunday on CBS and CTV.

2. Snuggies
These blankets with sleeves have been the butt of late-night TV jokes and hundreds of parodies on YouTube for some time. But style crime turned cool when the wraparound comforters debuted at New York Fashion Week a few days back. Now you want one for Christmas, don’t you?

3. The Time of My Life: Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi
Once you’re done watching Dirty Dancing and Ghost another dozen times, you can pick up this memoir from the departed star, which hits bookstores later this month. Co-written with wife Lisa Niemi, the book chronicles Swayze’s battle with pancreatic cancer.

4. Backspacer: Pearl Jam
It’s short and sweet and, in true Pearl Jam fashion, sticks it to the Man. Following Radiohead’s lead, the Seattle legends are releasing their ninth studio album on their own, without any meddling from a studio label. The initial reviews for the 36-minute album are positive, arguably the best the rockers have received since 1998’s Yield.

5. Jennifer’s Body
Hollywood eye-candy Megan Fox works up a man-sized appetite — literally — for this Diablo Cody-penned teen-horror flick. In the film, the Transformers 2 star plays a cheerleader possessed by a demon who starts feeding off of the boys in her high school. Someone pass her the Ginger Snaps, quickly.

6. Curb Your Enthusiasm
Let the festivus begin. Larry David’s comedy show is not only returning (Sunday on HBO Canada) after a two-year hiatus but also tagging along the cast of Seinfeld for a season-long reunion. Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards are all expected to play themselves in the series. Yada yada yada to that.

7. Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Hogwarts will come to life in sunny Florida with this new theme park, which opens in spring 2010 at Universal Orlando Resort. Rides include the Dragon Challenge, a twin high-speed roller coaster themed after the Triwizard Tournament, the family roller coaster Flight of the Hippogriff and the high-tech Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey.
