Military hopes city is revved for Red Friday

The City of Edmonton and the Canadian Forces are encouraging Edmontonians to wear red this Friday after Mayor Stephen Mandel officially proclaimed it as Red Friday.
The Mayor, along with CFB Edmonton Base Commander Lt.-Col. Thomas Bradley announced the designation of July 23 as Red Friday at a media conference at city hall yesterday.
Lt.-Col. Bradley said the military in Edmonton is very proud that Edmontonians are showing their support for the military.
“We are so truly blessed to be stationed here ... No one else from coast to coast compares to what we have here in Edmonton.”
The city is also encouraging Edmontonians to wear red and show their support of their troops at Capital Ex and the 2010 Honda Indy.
The Winspear Centre is helping celebrate Red Friday with a performance by the The Naden Band of Maritime Forces Pacific on Friday at 7 p.m.
