Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines Ltd. is moving its headquarters to Montreal from Toronto and has named former cabinet minister Brian Tobin as its new executive chairman.
The miner, which currently has offices in Toronto and Manhattan, said Thursday the move is intended to focus its operations in Quebec as it as it moves from resource explorer and developer to active iron ore miner by the end of the year.
While its properties were under development, the company had operated in conjunction with management support services firm in Toronto.
“We’ve reached the point where it’s time for us to go forward with ... our own full-time, fully dedicated staff at our own headquarters, in this case where the mine is located,” Tobin said.
The company said chief financial officer Brad Boland has resigned, while Stan Bharti and Bruce Humphrey have stepped down from the board but will work as consultants.
