Minister: Gaddafi ordered Lockerbie

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi personally ordered a terrorist attack on an American jumbo jet that killed 270 people, the former Libyan justice minister claimed yesterday.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi personally ordered a terrorist attack on an American jumbo jet that killed 270 people, the former Libyan justice minister claimed yesterday.

Mustafa Mohamed Abdel-Jalil said he had “proof” that Gaddafi ordered the bombing of PanAm flight 103 in December 1988.

The jet blew up at 33,000 feet over the Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing more than 200 Americans, most of them from the New York and New Jersey areas.

Jalil, who stepped down from his post only a few days ago in protest at the violence in Libya, is reported to have told a Swedish newspaper that Gaddafi personally ordered the Lockerbie
attack.
