Department of Energy deputy minister Murray Coolican said he has reached out to his new counterpart in the newly formed David Alward government in New Brunswick.

“We certainly want to continue a dialogue with the government of New Brunswick about energy issues between the two provinces,” Coolican said outside a public accounts meeting.

But Coolican said he could not speculate how close the two provinces are to making the capital improvements necessary for increased energy sharing across the border.

“We think it’s very important to improve the system between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. We hope the new New Brunswick government feels the same way.”
