Miracle of life, indeed: Iowa woman delivers 14-pound baby, Asher Stewardson

The debate of whether women can handle pain better than men was settled today in Des Moines, Iowa once and for all.

Kendall Stewardson gave birth to Asher Stewardson at 13 pounds, 13 ounces in Des Moines, Iowa. Yes, you read correctly, she delivered her son, Asher, naturally, after six hours of labor and without an epidural injection at Mercy Medical Center. So yes, we’d say women can handle pain pretty well.

Big babies run in the family as Asher’s brother, Judah, was born 15 months ago at 12 pounds.

Mercy hospital officials said only a tenth of 1 percent of all newborns weight more than 11 pounds at birth.

Congratulations to the proud parents. May your son grow up to be a healthy linebacker. Or bouncer. His choice.
