A 16-year-old Gaetz Brook girl was taken to hospital yesterday with mild hypothermia after a police K-9 team found the missing girl in the woods around West Chezzetcook.

Police say the teenager was reported missing at 1:32 a.m. yesterday morning. She was last scene running towards the open water.

Ground Search and Rescue was called in to assist police and fire personnel and a helicopter was dispatched through the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.

At 3:35 a.m., the police K-9 team found the girl in the woods conscious and breathing, but in a hypothermic state.

The girl, who wasn’t properly dressed for the weather conditions, was transported to the IWK Health Centre for treatment and an assessment.
