Peel’s police chief has told Mississauga councillors that the investigation into hazing incidents — including one caught on video — involving city employees is not over, according to Coun. Carolyn Parrish.

The statement contradicts earlier statements from Janice Baker, Mississauga’s city manager, that Chief Mike Metcalf told her police would not lay charges over incidents at the city’s transportation and works department.

The revelation came from Parrish, who said when she entered the in-camera council meeting, she asked the chief if the investigation was over.

“He said, ‘No,’ so I got up and left,” Parrish said. “It’s inappropriate for us to be asking questions, leading questions, making comments, giving any direction to an investigation.”

She went on to say she didn’t believe the hazing incident was isolated and she had since been contacted by a few temporary employees who fear they are being harassed.
