LitFest
On Friday, LitFest presents: Dan Gardner and Andrew Potter. Enjoy informal readings and interviews with some of LitFest’s hottest authours. Free and open to all at noon at City Centre Mall’s CBC Centre Stage.

Bend Sinister
On Friday, beloved indie prog rockers Bend Sinister will be performing at the Avenue with Paper Lions and Library Voices in Edmonton.

Pumpkins & Pirates
X marks the spot at the Muttart Conservatory this Halloween. Get a taste of pirate life during an afternoon filled with fanciful songs, exciting tales and hunting for treasure through the pyramids. Join the costume parade and then stop by the unusually carved pumpkin display to meet the artist and receive carving tips to try at home. Sunday, 1-4 p.m. Regular admission applies.


Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers take on the San Jose Sharks at Rexall Place on Saturday night. Puck drop is at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at edmontonoilers.com or by calling 780-414-GOAL.

Gospel Jam 2010
Gospel Jam 2010 goes Friday night at the Central Lions Seniors Recreation Centre. Terrell Edwards from Reach Band will emcee the evening. Artists include Delroy Parr, Destello and Cherry Riffin. Dancers will perform as well. Tickets are $25 and are available at Safron’s Caribbean Delight.

Art for Art
Art for Art, a silent auction of local and African works in support of Keiskamma Trust, takes place on Saturday. Keiskamma Trust is a not-for-profit in rural South Africa that is supported by Keiskamma Canada. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the silent auction goes from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Timms Centre for the Arts. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
