Trick or Treat to a Wicked Beat. The first TD “Family Adventures with the National Arts Centre Orchestra” concert of the season celebrates the music and magic of Halloween. The musicians will take to the stage in Halloween costumes and the audience is invited to dress up as well. Friday, 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Diwali Mela, Oct. 31, St. Paul High School
The India Canada Association presents a Diwali Mela featuring popular film songs, folk-pop music, regional dances, food stalls and a Rangoli and Puja Thali decoration event. Beat Beethoven, Oct. 30,. Vimy Place
The 19th annual installment of the run is held this weekend, with proceeds going to Harvest House Ministries. Runners can choose among a half marathon, 8K run or 4K run/walk, and every participant gets a free T-shirt with registration. Saturday at Vimy Place, in front of the Canadian War Museum.

Canadian Forces Appreciation Night, Oct. 30, Scotiabank Place
The Ottawa Senators dedicate their Oct. 30 home game against the Boston Bruins to the Canadian Forces. The mayors of Pembroke and Petawawa have issued a challenge to local businesses: For every game ticket businesses buy, the Senators will donate two for Canadian Forces members. Experience Hendrix Tour, Nov. 1, National Arts Centre
An all-star cast performs the music of Jimi Hendrix. Featured performers include Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Susan Tedeschi, Steve Vai, Robert Randolph, Jonny Lang, Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas, Eric Johnson, Ernie Isley, Living Colour, Chris Layton and The Slide Brothers, aka Chuck and Darick Campbell.
