The Governor General’s Award winning play written by Calgary’s Sharon Pollock opens this weekend. And one-night-only tickets are $10 for the Director’s Preview Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for that show are only available at the door. The show runs Sept. 19 to Oct 11.

Alberta Arts Days

It’s a three-day celebration of the province’s arts and culture. Events run in two locations on Saturday. Check out workshops, displays and live performances from local performers and visual artists. Free admission.

Peace Pole Unveiling Celebration
When: Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1:30 p.m.

In celebration of the International Day of Peace, the Calgary Peace Pole community will unveil Calgary’s peace pole and plaza. The peace walk starts on Prince’s Island at 1:30 with live music, and a family barbecue at the peace plaza. There are 250,000 peace poles around the world.

Hot Little Rocket with Paper Moon

Calgary’s Hot Little Rocket are breaking up. Eleven years after the indie rock band started, they’re calling it quits. But this weekend you can see them before the end. Tickets are $10.

Elbow River Promenade Grand Opening

The Elbow River Promenade opens this weekend with a day of entertainment and history. Head to the east side of Mission Bridge and see history re-enacted.
