MLA sorry for ‘trash talking’

An Alberta Liberal MLA who called some of the province’s Tory caucus “scope monkeys” during question period Wednesday gave a public apology over his comments in the legislature Thursday.

“I am sorry,” said Calgary Liberal MLA Dave Taylor. “I thought I would do a little trash talking with my heckling and indeed, I was so insensitive on how my remark would be taken.”

Taylor apologized over comments he made as Premier Ed Stelmach was being grilled by opposition members over the government’s proposed human rights legislation.

Stelmach, who later accepted Taylor’s apology, said Taylor’s remark “hurt a lot of feelings” in his caucus.
