Molson unveils Olympics mural project

Canadians from coast to coast are being invited to raise a glass – or a bottle – in support of our athletes as the nation counts down to the 2010 Games in Vancouver.

Molson Canadian, a 2010 sponsor and the company that made patriotism cool with its I Am Canadian campaign, announced a project Wednesday to create a giant photo collage of Canadians toasting our athletes.

The 2010 Mural Project will cover a nearly 4,000-square-foot section of Molson’s Kitsilano brewery with the first 250 photos – employees from that location – being added Wednesday. When all the pictures are put together and unveiled on the eve of the Games it will reveal one big image.

“The (project) will give Canadians from all corners an opportunity to share a personal connection with the Games and show our athletes we stand proudly behind them,” said David Bigioni, brand director with Molson Canadian.

Bryan Cox, a spokesperson for Molson Canadian, said John Molson’s vision was to foster the notion that we’re all part of a larger community where everyone plays a part.

Cox said the spirit of that message lives on in this campaign.
