The Halifax Mooseheads are expected to announce today a new lease agreement to stay at the Metro Centre. A press conference is scheduled for this morning to announce the details. The Mooseheads have spent all of their 16 seasons at the Metro Centre, but nearly left in 2004 when majority owner Bobby Smith — displeased with negotiations with Trade Centre Ltd. — stunned the city by signing a five-year agreement to move to the north-end Forum. Concerned with losing a major downtown draw, TCL almost immediately tabled an offer more favourable to the Mooseheads.
