Halifax Mooseheads forward Brent Andrews will get a crack at suiting up for one of Hockey Canada’s national teams this summer.

Halifax Mooseheads forward Brent Andrews will get a crack at suiting up for one of Hockey Canada’s national teams this summer.

The 17-year-old Centre was one of 38 skaters invited Friday to participate at a selection camp for the Canadian under-18 team that will compete at the annual Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament in Slovakia and the Czech Republic in August.

The camp runs from July 31 to Aug. 3 in Calgary.

The last member of the Mooseheads to represent the under-18 team at the Ivan Hlinka was Logan MacMillan in 2006. Gabriel Desjardins tried out last year but was one of the final cuts, although he did make the under-18 team for April’s world championship.

Andrews, selected 15th overall in the 2009 QMJHL draft, collected seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 64 games as a rookie last season.
