More buses for Metro Transit should be the top priority for improving public transportation in the Halifax Regional Municipality, according to a poll released Thursday by Corporate Research Associates.

With the choices of a fast ferry to and from Bedford, more Metro Transit buses or a light rail service from Fall River to Halifax, 55 per cent of the 400 people surveyed said additional buses were the most important priority to invest money in. Twenty-two per cent chose the rail service and 12 per cent went with the fast ferry.

The results are part of the CRA’s Halifax Urban Report, an independent survey of HRM residents. The survey was conducted between April 30 and May 12, and is accurate within 4.9 percentage points, 95 times out of 100.
