More candidates enter city council race in Orleans, Rideau-Goulbourn

A couple of well-connected candidates have registered to run for city council, including a news site operator and a businessman.

A couple of well-connected candidates have registered to run for city council.


Fred Sherwin, the publisher of news website Orleans Online, submitted his papers to run in Orleans on Tuesday morning.


Sherwin regularly covers municipal matters for the news site. The current councillor, Bob Monette, was among the first to file his papers. Jennifer Robitaille rounds out the field in Orleans.


Bruce Webster, president of the Richmond Village Association is the third candidate running in Rideau-Goulbourn. Scott Moffatt and Bruce Chrustie have already filed their papers for the rural southwest Ottawa ward. The current councillor, Glenn Brooks has not yet registered.
