It’s more than just a beautiful gown. Walking down the aisle in an Adele Wechsler dress is a small step towards a cleaner, greener world.
“Being in a very luxurious industry, I got to the point where it just wasn’t enough for me,” said Wechsler. “There had to be more to what I was doing than designing wedding dresses. The collection had to have heart and soul.”
Wechsler created her new Eco Couture collection “for the bride who cares about the world in which she lives.”
Gowns are made entirely in Canada using fair-trade labour and certified organic silks and fabrics. Soft vanilla, alabaster and claystone hues were created with vegetable dyes and no chemicals. Not only that, but Wechsler used remnant cloth and lace that would normally go to waste whenever possible.
The designs themselves are infused with the earthy and organic. From the delicate folded petal shape of a pleated bodice to the gentle misty spray of a sheer organza overlay, each dress is inspired by a secret piece of nature.
Wechsler plays with both windswept, freeform draping and a cleaner, structured minimalist approach. The result is whimsical and imaginative, but always sophisticated.
