Mother in stable condition after collision that killed daughter

The mother of a two-year-old girl who was run over and killed by a truck at a downtown Vancouver intersection is in stable condition in hospital with what police say are “very serious leg injuries.”

The man who was driving the truck that hit the woman and her child on Wednesday was questioned by police and has since been released, said Vancouver police Const. Jana McGuinness.

Witnesses were so traumatized by the crash that victim services was called.

“We haven’t arrived at a stage in the investigation where we’re able to confirm any charges or not, we’re still working through witness statements,” said McGuinness.

According to ICBC, there were 10 collisions at that intersection last year, 20 the year before and five in 2006.
