Mounties warn public about sex offender

A convicted sex offender considered a serious threat to children was released from prison yesterday, Mounties warn.

“We would be remiss not to tell the public about this guy,” Spruce Grove RCMP Const. Lori Blaylock said.

Gary Joseph Robins, 44, was released from prison after finishing an 18-month sentence for sexual interference. His lengthy criminal history includes sexual offences against girls under 16.

Officials are alerting the public that Robins plans to live at Spruce Grove’s Mobile City Estates trailer park, under a number of conditions.

One by one, residents of the trailer park are being warned Robins has made the move to the area.
“There are a lot of young families there,” Blaylock said.

He’s banned from having any contact with children under 14, in person or electronically. He’s also banned from public pools, parks, day care centres, or anywhere children may be present.

Officials consider Robins untreated.

Blaylock said that in Robins’ past offences he has blamed those he victimized, saying his temptation was caused by the victims being near him.
