Carmen 3D is the latest attempt to bring the live opera experience to movie theatres, this time taking on Carmen and Don Jose’s dirty, tragic dance. The stage production itself is remarkable, filled with matadors, outlaws, gypsies, live horses, vast choruses, talented dancers, knife fights, and bosoms all popping out of the screen in 3-D. In the end, though impressive, this is no substitute for the live experience.
