Director: Kenneth Lonergan
Stars: Anna Paquin, Matt Damon, Mark Rufflalo
Six years in the works, Kenneth Lonergan’s coming-of-age drama Margaret still has the look and feel of a work in progress.
What it does have going for it is a pre-True Blood Anna Paquin, who burns up the screen with a bravura performance in a complex and discomfiting role.
She plays Lisa Cohen, a bright private-school student, who descends into a spiral of guilt, despair and retribution after she inadvertently contributes to the death of a female pedestrian, having flirtatiously distracted a bus driver (Mark Ruffalo) and lied to police about their mutual complicity.
