Monica Velour could do for Kim Cattrall what The Burning Bed did for Farrah Fawcett — put to rest the notion that an ageing Hollywood sex hellion is good for nothing. Cattrall is Monica/Linda, an ’80s porn star now a struggling single mother living in a trailer park, pursued by a naïve 17-year-old obsessed with her fantasy image. He sets out on a quest for her, but finds a bitter, angry and fragile woman who bristles at his attentions. He falls for her anyway in this warm hearted, quirky and offbeat outing. Cattrall imbues Monica with vulnerability, emotional richness and a naked need for dignity.
