A study in obsessive people obsessed with obsessive people, Jon Foy’s Sundance-approved doc uses 2001: A Space Odyssey and the necromantic writings of historian Arthur Toynbee as a springboard to decipher the phenomena of enigmatic tiles that have appeared on streets all across the United States.
Foy and his team of conspiracy sleuths track these bizarre art installations, trying to figure out what they mean, where they came from etc.
But the central problem with the picture is that it’s just not that interesting a quest to sustain feature length, despite Foy’s own relentless and urgent music score and obvious interest in his subject.
