When young surfer girl Bethany Hamilton’s passion for wave riding was cut short by a tiger shark attack in 2003, it made headlines. She survived ,of course, but her arm was completely severed below the joint. Her road to recovery, her spiritual healing and eventual triumphant re-emergence as a champion surfer makes up the narrative of Soul Surfer, a fairly saccharine, faith themed bio-drama that is nonetheless stirring.
