The Hangover: Part II

Genre: Comedy

Director: Todd Phillips

Stars: Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms

Todd Philips’ blockbuster, The Hangover ,most definitely captured lightning in a bottle. But the clever premise also shows that, unfortunately, lightning rarely strikes twice.

It’s not that The Hangover: Part II isn’t without its funny moments. From a scene-stealing capuchin monkey to a revealing encounter involving transvestites in a Bangkok strip club, there are plenty of laughs. But because Philips closely copies the structure of the 2009 hit, the gags are less surprising.

The boys head to Thailand for Stu’s (Ed Helms) upcoming wedding and end up losing the bride’s young brother, crossing paths with a gangster (Paul Giamatti) and taking guardianship of an old monk. Even if those gags don’t resonate as much as the original film, fans should still be entertained enough.
