Directed by TV’s Ghost Whisperer creator John Gray, White Irish Drinkers is a familiar Brooklyn-set drama about blue-collar brothers taking opposite approaches to escape their abusive father and grim future — one through artistic means; the other as a thief. Convincing performances from a largely unknown cast elevate the gritty film beyond a handful of plot contrivances.
