MP to host community cycling infrastructure meeting

Ottawa-Centre NDP MP Paul Dewar is looking for ways to improve cycling infrastructure in Ottawa.

Dewar will host a consultation with community groups and residents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sat., May 30, at St. Giles Church in the Glebe to gain insight on public ideas and priorities for cycling in Ottawa.

He will then pursue those ideas in the House of Commons, he said.

“Cycling is a part of life in Ottawa, but a lot needs to be done to improve cycling in our city,” said Dewar.

“Building, maintaining and promoting better cycling infrastructure in Ottawa would go a long way in encouraging a healthy lifestyle at a time when people want to cut back on greenhouse gas emissions.”

Dewar also noted that improvements to Ottawa’s cycling infrastructure could enhance tourism opportunities and help Ottawa’s reputation as a cycling destination.
