A man found fatally wounded in the basement of a north-end bungalow early Saturday morning has not yet been identified.

The discovery of the man’s body, which was found in a basement suite of a home at 11903 – 49 Street shortly before 5:30 a.m., would mark Edmonton’s 13th homicide of 2009.

Though paramedics rushed the unidentified man to hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police were called to the home with a report a man had been assaulted. So far, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder.

Police relinquished few details on the incident over the weekend, as investigations were in preliminary stages.

An autopsy will be conducted early this week, which may help police identify the victim and determine how he died.

Investigators are searching for anyone that may have information about the victim, and any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious, or related to the murder.
