Thousands of music fans bombarded Ticketmaster’s phone service and website to scoop up Junos tickets in mere minutes.

Six thousand tickets for the event in Saskatoon sold out in 14 minutes on the weekend, a spokeswoman for the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences said Monday from Toronto.

Katherine Holmes called it “a darn quick time to get all those tickets sold by.”

“It went extremely well,” Holmes said of the sale. “Of course, in this age of technology most of those are probably Internet sales.”

Holmes said it was tough to determine if the sale set a record because every venue has a different number of seats available.

“We sold out in 15 minutes in Halifax last year,” she said.

It took longer to sell out in Edmonton in 2004, Holmes noted, but there were twice as many seats available.
