Pictou County, home to INXS frontman JD Fortune and country star George Canyon, will play host to Nova Scotia Music Week 2008.

Music Nova Scotia announced yesterday that New Glasgow will be the centre of activity for the 12th annual music conference and awards gala. It will take place between Nov. 6 and 9.

The four-day event will feature more than 70 multi-genre showcases that will take place the Glasgow Square Theatre and The deCoste Centre, along with local hotspots Fibbers, The Roseland, and The Dock.

The event will culminate on Sunday night with the presentation of Music Nova Scotia awards and performances by the nominated acts.

Around 500 delegates, including musicians, industry professionals, talent programmers are expected to attend the music conference, which will take place at the Museum of Industry.

A full schedule, performers for the Gala Awards Shows and all other events, as well as the nominees for more than 40 awards, will be announced in the upcoming months.
