A Nova Scotia man tied to the Halifax Hells Angels motorcycle gang has been arrested in relation to a double-homicide in Montreal.
Montreal police say Jeffrey Albert Lynds, 42, was arrested by Truro RCMP yesterday morning. Spokeswoman Const. Anie Lemieux told Metro an arrest warrant was issued for Lynds regarding the two homicides on Jan. 24 in Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce district.
No charges have yet been laid against Lynds, who will be brought back to Montreal by investigators later this week. He will then be questioned in regards to the killings, Lemieux said.
The men killed were both gunned down.
“We still don’t know the motive or if it was related to any other organized crimes,” Lemieux said.
A full-patch member of the Halifax chapter of the Angels, Lynds was sentenced to three years in jail Jan. 29, 2003, after pleading guilty to offering to sell MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, and possessing cocaine for the purposes of trafficking.
He was arrested in December 2001 after police raided the former Angels clubhouse on Dutch Village Road, along with several homes.
Lynds was released from prison six months into his sentence under an accelerated parole program.
