NEW YORK, N.Y. - Joe Namath says Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will be fine if the Jets put the right players around him.
The former Jets quarterback and Hall of Famer saw the new HBO documentary about his life for the first time at a screening in Manhattan on Wednesday night. It tells the story of a young quarterback who threw too many interceptions, then learned to trust his teammates to lead his club to a championship.
Namath has been vocal in his criticism of the Jets' leadership at times in recent years. He says he feels "awful" about the tension with management, but he needs to say what he feels.
"Namath," produced in conjunction with NFL Films, premieres Saturday.
