Naturalists return for a fifth season

A group of naturalists are gearing up for a fifth season of giving educational presentations to passengers travelling on B.C. Ferries this summer.

The Coastal Naturalists will start the programs on Friday, giving 30-minute talks on the outer decks of the vessels with the Georgia Straight and coastal scenery as the backdrop.

“The program … is designed to engage customers and deliver a more memorable journey,” said Geoff Dickson, with B.C. Ferries.

The speakers share insights and stories about wildlife, geography, culture and history.

Almost half of those who took the presentation in 2009 reported seeing seals, eagles and orcas.

The lectures will run on the Tsawwassen — Swartz Bay and Horeshoe Bay — Departure Bay routes Friday through Monday until Sept. 6.
