NDP join Tories in calling for Caplan’s firing over eHealth

Ontario’s opposition parties said yesterday they didn’t know why the Liberal government was still defending officials at a provincial agency that awarded $5 million in untendered contracts to “friends” in the consulting business.

The Conservatives and New Democrats accused eHealth chairman Alan Hudson and CEO Sarah Kramer of giving “Liberal-friendly” firms lucrative contracts without taking competitive bids.

The New Democrats have now joined the Conservatives in demanding Health Minister David Caplan resign over his handling of eHealth Ontario.

The Liberals and Premier Dalton McGuinty have said they will wait for an auditor general’s report before acting.
