NDP seeking replacement for candidate who resigned

B.C.’s New Democrats are on the hunt to find a candidate for Vancouver-False Creek following the sudden resignation of Ray Lam.

NDP president Jeff Fox said a replacement is already in the works and that the response from the community has been great.

“Since the announcement last night we’ve had many calls from people expressing interest in running to go and kick Campbell’s butt,” he said.

Lam’s decision to step out of the race came after photos from his personal Facebook account showing him touching a woman’s breast and having his underpants tugged leaked to the public.

“I’m confident in the (candidate) we’ll use this time around,” Fox said, adding that the party would hold a nomination meeting within the next three days to choose a new candidate to face Liberal Mary McNeil and the Green party’s Damian Kettlewell.
