Travel rental website Airbnb unveiled its new logo with much fanfare today - unfortunately, it was immediately met by raised eyebrows from internet-goers who saw a little something different than the company intended.
The new logo is part of an elaborate and top-secret rebranding effort which the company has been working on, which include redesigns of the company's website and app interfaces. As reported by Fast Company, Airbnb CEO Brian Cheskyis particularly excited by about the chance to use his favorite color, magenta, calling it "modern," "sophisticated" and "playful."
Twitter users think the logo might be taking "playful" a little too far, though. Most agree that the symbol, which Chesky claimscombines elements of a heart, a location pin, as well as the "A" in Airbnb, looks more like elements of different genitalia. The only confusion is which one it looks like the most.
The AirBNB logo is a Rorschach test for which type of genitalia you're currently thinking about.

Airbnb's new logo is probably my favorite testicle based logo for sure.

Yep, the new @Airbnb logo looks like a vagina. I'm tardy to the vagina-joke party. Sorry.

The logo is nicknamed named the "Bélo," short for belonging, which is what Chesky says is the central emotion that informed the rebranding. Unfortunately, claims of gentalia-likeness is not where the criticism of the new logo ends. Many Twitter users have pointed out thatBélo strongly resembles the logo of another company, Automation Anywhere.

Despite a controversial introduction to the world, Airbnb seems to have high hopes for their newborn logo. Chesky shares his vision that the new logo transform the mainly internet-based company into something you can see in the real world in products like keychains and stickers. So do your best to forget which genitalia you decided it looked most like, because you're probably going to see around a lot.
