The Saint John Sea Dogs and Moncton Wildcats are having a nightmare of a time trying to get a couple of highly-touted Russians into their 2009-10 lineup.

The Sea Dogs’ No. 1 pick in the Canadian Hockey League import draft, Stanislav Galiev, is in limbo. His transfer to the CHL has been challenged by his Russian team, Moscow Dynamo, according to the New Brunswick’s Telegraph-Journal.

Kirill Kabanov, who the Wildcats selected seventh overall in the import draft, has decided to report to the team but needs to be granted a release by his Russian team, Salavat Ufa, according to the Moncton Times-Transcript.

Both are considered top prospects for the 2010 NHL draft.
